MADtv REGULARS CEREMONY HOSTS FOR JEFF AWARDS NOVEMBER 1
CHICAGO, October 28, 2004 – Two Jeff nominees and cast members of MADtv are hosting the 36th Annual Joseph Jefferson Awards, honoring excellence in theater, Monday, Nov. 1 at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie. The awards ceremony starts at 7:30 p.m. and doors open at 6 p.m.
Ceremony hosts Keegan-Michael Key and Nicole Parker, nominated for Best Actor and Best Actress in a Musical, appear regularly on MADtv. They will perform their number “We Started It All� from the nominated show Romeo and Juliet Musical: The People vs. Friar Laurence, The Man Who Killed Romeo and Juliet, produced by Chicago Shakespeare Theater and Second City Theatricals.
Other numbers from nominated shows being performed at the awards ceremony are “Moonshine Lullabye� from Annie Get Your Gun, a Marriott Theatre production, performed by Susie McMonagle with David Girolmo, Jim Harms, Roger Mueller and Michael Lindner, and the baseball number “A Man of Ideas� from About Face Theatre’s production, Winesburg, Ohio, performed by Jeff Dumas with a cast of 18 including Lesley Bevan, Joe Dempsey, Mary Ernster, Johanna McKenzie Miller, Jeff Parker, Andrew White, Gary Wingert and Thomas Murray.
Others presenting Jeff Awards include Mauro Mellano from award sponsor Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers (SSDC), New York, and previous Jeff Award recipients: Marilyn Campbell, Cheri Coons, Maury Cooper, David Cromer and Marc Grapey (jointly), Joyce Faison, B.J. Jones, Marla Lampert, Kymberly Mellen, Roger Mueller, Larry Neumann, Jr., Jennifer Pompa, Rachel Rockwell, Christine Sherrill, Richard Strimer, Jackie Taylor and Jim Zager.
Marc Robin, director and choreographer with eight Jeff Awards and 35 Jeff nominations, is directing this year’s awards ceremony. Awards will be presented in 26 categories with 124 nominations, representing 58 productions from 25 producing organizations.
Advance general admission tickets are $55 for the public and $40 for members of Actors’ Equity Association, United Scenic Artists and SSDC. At the door, tickets are $65 and $50, respectively.
