2005 JEFF AWARDS CEREMONY RETURNING TO DOWNTOWN CHICAGO

CHICAGO, IL, July 29 2005 - The 37th Annual Joseph Jefferson Awards ceremony for Equity theatres is returning to downtown Chicago this year to the new Drury Lane Theatre Water Tower Place, 175 E. Chestnut St., after seven years at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie.

Honoring excellence in Chicago area Equity theatres, the awards ceremony starts at 7 p.m., November 7, and a reception follows at the Mity Nice Grill, adjacent to the theatre at Water Tower Place. Doors will open at 6 p.m. to cash bar and light hors d’oeuvres in the theatre lobby. Nominations will be announced the second week of September.

Ticket information is available through the Jeff Awards web site at www.jeffawards.org. Prices are $65 for general admission and $50 for members of Actors’ Equity Association, United Scenic Artists, Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers and The Dramatists Guild of America. Because of limited seating, no tickets will be sold at the door the night of the ceremony. Discounted event parking for $7.50 will be provided at Water Tower Place.

Founded in 1968, the mission of The Joseph Jefferson Awards Committee is to honor excellence in theatrical productions in the Chicago theatre community. The committee, comprised of 45 theatre professionals and experienced theatergoers, evaluates approximately 250 theatrical productions and holds two awards ceremonies each year. The 2005 Citations Awards, honoring outstanding achievement in non-union productions, were presented June 13.
